Concrete Core Drilling

Core drilling is the process of using a specialized drill with a diamond-tipped core bit to create precise, circular holes in concrete, asphalt, masonry, or stone. It’s commonly used to make openings for plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and structural installations. This method produces clean, accurate holes of various diameters with minimal vibration or damage to surrounding materials, making it ideal for both new construction and renovation projects.

common core drilling applications

Structural & Construction Applications

  • Creating openings for plumbing, electrical, and HVAC penetrations

  • Installing anchor bolts and rebar dowels

  • Drilling for structural testing or concrete sampling

  • Creating holes for handrails, guardrails, and barriers

  • Drilling for post-tension cable access

Utility & Infrastructure Applications

  • Installing utility lines (water, gas, electrical, telecom) through walls, floors, and slabs

  • Manhole or drainage tie-ins

  • Drilling holes for conduit, piping, and fire protection systems

  • Access holes for underground utilities or sewer connections

Renovation & Retrofit Applications

  • Adding new mechanical systems in existing buildings

  • Creating duct and vent openings during remodels

  • Retrofitting or expanding existing infrastructure

  • Removing sections of concrete for structural modifications

Industrial & Specialty Applications

  • Drilling for core samples in quality control or engineering analysis

  • Creating holes for machinery installations and industrial equipment mounts

  • Penetrations in tunnels, bridges, and dams
